Dr. Hmamouchi Mohammed

Mohammed Hmamouchi obtained her Ph.D. in Phyto-chemistry from Laval University, Canada (1986). He has experience of more than 35 years in teaching, research and herbs Industry. Her early training was in chemistry with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (1979), master's (1982) and PhD (1986). From 1987-2015 he was a researcher at Multidisciplinary Chemistry, Biology and Medicinal plants Research Center. Thereafter he took a position as full professor at school of Medicine and Pharmacy. His work focuses on pharmacognosy, Phyto-chemistry, and pharmacology of natural products. Over the years, his work has involved the search for new natural products and the development of products that meet the criteria of innovation, safety, efficacy and reproducibility. He has supervised more than 30 graduate students in research on bioactive natural products. He has researched extensively on many aspects of aromatic plants and He has published over 130 articles, many in peer-reviewed international journals, 5 books and 4 patents. He is also Editor-in-chief of Arabian Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants which he created in 2015 (indexed in Scopus, www. ajmap.info). In 2004 he was appointed by Moroccan government to develop and implement national policies on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. He oversaw build and equipment a National Institute on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants as a Director (http://www.anpma.ma/). In 2011 he became President of the Arab Federation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. 2013 to 2015 he became Advisor to the Minister of Higher Teacher Education, Scientific Research. Since 2016 to day, he is visiting professor at the University of Montreal (Canada), teaching Phytochemistry and Medicinal Plant to 2nd cycle students. He has been an expert since 2017 with the Canadian Consortium for Research and Innovation in Industrial Bioprocessing. He managed several research projects, contracts and cooperation agreement. He collaborate with many international institutions and companies in over 30 countries (France, Spain, USA, Canada, England, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Corsica, Greece, Holland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Senegal, Switzerland, Turkey, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, the various international organizations and donors: European Union, FAO, FEM-PNUD, AUF, ISESCO, UNESCO, OMS/ EMRO, FIDA, ICARDA, IPIGRI–WAN). He was also the focal point of many international conventions and agreements, and coordinator of national and international MAP networks (Ex. Tempus: European Union Projects). He continues to do research, expertise and to give plenary lectures at various congresses and international conferences as a guest. He is a member of several scientific associations. He has received numerous national and international Prizes, Grants, Awards and Recognition certificate for his research work.
